Here is an idea I have come up with to try and make the forums a little more active... Each week we will have a topic called DriverTalk where we come and talk about unique setups for the track, lines we like to run, and justa general open discussion about this weeks race...

This week we visit Piggzport Super Speedway in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

I ran about 50 test laps last night with the Talladega fast setup, and I was primarily working with my tire pressure, and wedge to get a car that I didn't need to worry much about handling, and just to get a feel for the track and it's lines...

Something I did notice about this track was that it the turn immediately following the entrance to the pit lane, there is a bump about midway through that turn. The truck drags just a little through the rest of the turn. When you hit the bump, naturally it gets you just a bit free. Not loose, but free.

Not a problem in a test, or even qualifying, because if you counter-turn at just the right time, you can only make the truck bounce just a bit, and not get free at all.

But it becomes a different story when your racing through the turn... I have turned my thoughts to what a three wide battle would turn into on that little bump... I certainly wouldn't want to be in the middle of that battle, or even directly behind. Even a two wide door-to-door battle could turn into a mess.

That is my biggest concern on the track. I am comfortable with the track and my knowledge of it. I was able to run some solid laps last night, and I found that I got faster as the run went along...

My fastest lap came while drafting (During practice to a race) and it timed at 55.002 I believe... Now OFC the AI cars were slower, so I wasn't getting the full draft effect.

What are your thoughts, and observations about the track?

Isn't it fixed setup we used Fri Nights?

Yeah, I was playing with my set-up last night though just to learn the track better...

I like this track and its wide, sweeping corners.

We'll be running a modified version of the Fast setup for the race -- I don't think the default gears will work for a full-length race.

I worked a few laps with it last night (Only had time to run about 12) and I was watching the RPM's and I wondered if that could end up being a problem myself. I plan to test with the default setup tonight to really work on my timing (and pit stops :? ) and as of right now, I would like to run no less than 75-100 laps. So I should have a better idea of whether or not our transmissions will be able to cut it tonight. I'll keep the topic edited with my findings.

Oh yeah... That fast setup will have the track looking like a glorified junkyard by lap 50.

I ran the Talladega fast setup like I said, and I topped out at about 182 MPH and 7,000 RPM, and the truck handled like a dream. I ran the Coca-Cola Fast setup, and although I was running from 183-185 MPH, some of the exits off of the corners were skittish.

If it were me, personally, I would go with the Dega fast... The handling just seems more in sync with the track.

So Bossman, any call yet on final word of what the setup will be?
